About the Role
The Senior Manager of Marketing Operations is responsible for driving operational excellence across PayPal's Marketing organization, with a strong focus on AI-enabled transformation. This role leads global marketing operations across planning, process, financial management, and performance reporting, while partnering closely with senior marketing leadership, finance, and cross-functional teams. The role ensures marketing strategies are translated into executable plans, resources are allocated effectively, and teams are enabled with the right processes, tools, governance, and AI capabilities to deliver results at scale across multiple regions.
Responsibilities
Marketing Operations & Execution
- Plan, design, and execute marketing operations processes, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery across global teams
- Define, distill, and operationalize marketing strategies into clear plans, workflows, and execution frameworks
- Build, maintain, and optimize operational workflows and tools to streamline collaboration and improve efficiency
- Manage the development, tracking, and reporting of marketing KPIs, ensuring clarity and consistency across regions
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to align on goals, dependencies, and deliverables
- Lead deck creation, coordination, and narrative development for key reporting forums and planning cycles
AI-Enabled Process Design & Transformation
- Lead the integration of AI into marketing operations, moving from strategy to practice through focused pilots and scalable implementation
- Re-engineer key marketing workflows (planning, campaign execution, reporting) to be AI-first and modular, while ensuring human creativity and strategic judgment remain central
- Design and implement AI-enabled processes and operating models that increase speed, consistency, and performance across marketing operations
- Build reusable AI templates, prompts, and playbooks that enable faster execution and can scale across teams and regions
Strategic Planning & Resource Allocation
- Drive the annual and quarterly marketing planning processes, ensuring alignment to global priorities and regional needs
- Partner with marketing leadership to ensure effective resource allocation across initiatives, regions, and teams
- Support Director and VPs with long-term planning, scenario modeling, and strategic decision support
Budget & Financial Management
- Oversee the global marketing budget, ensuring disciplined and effective budget management
- Serve as the primary point of contact with Finance for marketing financial reporting, forecasting and management
- Develop and maintain financial controls and reporting mechanisms to ensure compliance with internal policies
- Drive process improvements in partnership with Finance across month-end and quarter-end close
- Evaluate and help implement marketing finance tools and systems to improve efficiency, accuracy, and visibility
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across marketing operations, with particular focus on AI-enabled automation
- Build scalable, repeatable processes that support rapid growth and evolving organizational needs
- Assess existing workflows to identify friction, duplication, and manual effort that can be optimized through AI or process redesign
Leadership & Collaboration
- Foster a collaborative, results-driven environment that encourages open communication, knowledge sharing, and experimentation with new AI-enabled approaches
- Influence and align stakeholders across a highly matrixed, global organization
- Provide guidance and operational leadership to marketing teams on both traditional operations and AI adoption
Basic Qualifications
- 7–10+ years of experience in marketing operations, marketing strategy, business operations, or related roles
- Hands-on experience applying generative AI to marketing processes, workflows, or content operations
- Proven experience supporting global, multi-region marketing organizations, ideally within marketing
- Strong background in marketing planning, operational execution, and performance reporting
- Demonstrated expertise in budget management, financial forecasting with close partnership with Finance
- Experience building, scaling, and optimizing processes, workflows, and governance models in complex, matrixed environments, particularly through AI enablement and process transformation
- Proven ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders, including VP-level leaders, with confidence and credibility
- Experience translating high-level strategy into clear, actionable operational plans and decision-ready materials
- Strong executive communication skills, including deck creation, narrative development, and presenting in senior leadership forums
- Experience partnering cross-functionally with Finance, Analytics, Legal, Procurement, IT, Brand, and external vendors
- Familiarity with marketing operations tools, workflow/project management systems, marketing finance platforms, and AI/automation tools
- Deep understanding of brand governance, legal/compliance requirements, and how to operationalize them in AI-enabled systems
- Ability to lead through influence, fostering alignment across global teams and time zones
- Comfortable testing, iterating, and learning quickly in pilot environments
Other Qualifications
- Experience building or working with AI agents, prompt libraries, or marketing automation tools
- Background in change enablement and transformation programs related to AI or technology adoption
- Experience in regulated industries (fintech, payments, financial services)
- Familiarity with enterprise AI governance and responsible AI frameworks
This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $72.86/hour - $97.15/hour
