Responsibilities:
As a Senior Project Portfolio Manager, you are responsible for coordinating project and program resources engaged with all initiatives within the selected functional area portfolio. The Sr. Portfolio Manager is a primary trusted advisor within the PMO, providing thought leadership on the direction of key initiatives. Additionally, the Sr. Portfolio Manager participates in project/program-related steering committees, and reports to the Director, PMO. The position is responsible for senior executive engagement and reporting on the state and performance of initiatives within the selected functional area portfolio. A successful portfolio manager will influence program and roadmaps for key initiatives within the portfolio, facilitating trade-off discussions with senior leadership to maximize available resources. This role assumes the overarching responsibility for supporting organizational leadership in their efforts at overseeing, managing programs and projects across the entire life cycle to optimally achieve enterprise goals and objectives.
- Escalating risks.
- Hold business meetings with partners throughout the organization, tracking milestones through to completion. Will establish new projects, including their scope and the kickoff.
- Represents the PMO in key forums and committees where key initiatives are discussed and prioritized, providing updates regarding status of initiatives at risk, preparing mitigation plans to reduce risk, and escalating matters requiring executive leadership involvement for resolution.
- Partners closely with a specific functional area to implement a low friction model that enables key business outcomes, increases collaboration, improves visibility, and decreases risks. Recognizes opportunities to partner with stakeholders throughout the business and uses this knowledge to benefit the key goals and initiatives through understanding the wider business objectives.
- Possesses a strong ability to quickly assess and understand the key objectives of the specific functional area supported, to effectively support executive discussions/decisions around prioritization and delivery challenges.
- Creates and maintains relationships with business and technology stakeholders to facilitate timely and accurate delivery, identification of risks, issues and dependencies, and trade-off discussions to manage resource constraints.
Portfolio / Program / Project Execution:
- Manages program and project-level decomposition of work across multiple stakeholders and teams, working across organizational boundaries to define portfolio and program interdependencies and plans.
- Leads portfolio planning sessions, monitors and tracks progress, and conducts regular reviews at the portfolio, program and project level, to demonstrate strong oversight. Manages change using appropriate governance techniques.
- Monitors the health of portfolio delivery.
- Identifies, tracks, and prioritizes program-level risks, issues, and dependencies, proactively addressing impediments and actively collaborating with leaders across the organization to resolve roadblocks and enable successful execution, leveraging lessons learned from prior experience and working to address and mitigate systemic issues.
- Ensures projects meet or exceed performance targets, and that teams document the accurate status of the program, projects within the program(s), or external projects that have dependencies.
- Ensures successful completion of program exit criteria.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in large-scale project and program management
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office; knowledge of Clarizen is beneficial
- Project Management Institute (PMI) framework
- PMP certification (including PGMP or PMI-RMP) is preferred but not required.
Other Qualifications:
- Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of project management processes, workflows, and terminology, including understanding of the Project Management Institute (PMI) framework.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment.
- Understanding of how to distill large volumes of information into consumable portions that allow for nimble decision-making.
- Ability to influence outcomes and minimize and address conflict.
- Ability to manage large scale, complex project initiatives and various project elements. simultaneously, with high attention to detail and accuracy, meeting deadlines despite competing priorities.
- Possesses solid analytical, problem solving, and critical / creative thinking skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills, and ability to build and maintain relationships with peers and business support partners.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with experience presenting to Senior Leadership.
- Proven ability to operate in ambiguous environments and exhibit agility in navigating from current state to proposed solutions.
- Comfortable moving between the tactical and strategic, with the ability to adjust the approach and messaging to suit the audience
This is the pay range that Magnit reasonably expects to pay for this position: $75.00/hour-$100.00/hour
